Thread: Pikeminnows in Mammoth Lakes?

  1. #1

    Default Pikeminnows in Mammoth Lakes?

Went to Mammoth Lakes earlier this week. Netted a fish that was swimming unusually close to shore at Lake Mary. It looked very similar to a Pikeminnow and it was bleeding from its tail (seemed like it was bit or something). Disposed of it, per usual.

No Pikeminnows in the Sierras. Maybe Owens Sucker, possibly a Mountain Whitefish (unlikely), maybe owens tui chub. FYI netting is not a legal method of take and a warden will write you if they observe you doing so.

Considering the shape of its mouth, it was likely a Mountain Whitefish. Initially looked like a Pikeminnow. In any event, I did not know about the prohibition on netting unless hooked. I apologize. Thanks for clarifying that though, and as always, tight lines.
