Default No Bass Pros at Bass Pro in Mobile! Lol

Just stopped by Bass Pro Shop in Mobile Alabama to pick up a swimbait rod for the new Lexa 300.
they had no idea what a swimbait rod is. IÂ’m in complete shock.
the guy said well this isnÂ’t the west coast. I said well not only Bass eat trout.
striper eat Bass, trout eat Bass.. you get my point. Redfis eat swimbaits. Trout eat swimbaits. Everything eats swimbaits.

so why doesnÂ’t bass pro have a swimbait rod for sale?
is Not the word Bass In the name?

stupidest thing I ever heard of.

Ill buy it back home in Oregon and wonÂ’t have to pay tax on it anyway sheesh. Two more days and IÂ’ll be home!

How you guys liking the new DC Curados?
    I need a new crankbait/jerkbait/plastics reel. Low ratio 6.x/1
none of this high speed 7.x/1 or 8x./1 so I can’t reel in the fish..
im looking at the Curado 150 6/1 or the Curado 70..
cant make up my mind. Don’t think I need the electronic thingy but it would be fun to try considering I’m an electronics technician..
probably would have went with the 70 already.. if it wasn’t 7.x/1 ratio. :(

Ended up with a Curado 70HG. Got the last one bass pro in Manteca had in stock.
also got my Okuma swimbait stick. The new ones are pretty nice!
I think I’ll use this 70 HG for the light stuff, my blackmax for the medium stuff and my LEXA for the heavy.

I’ll need to order some parts to repair the blackmax by abu Garcia.
that winter season of Florida salt water trips turned it into a coffee grinder and now it has “selective anti-reverse”.
it selects when it wants to work on its own lol. Sometimes the anti reverse works, other times not.
time to repair and upgrade it.

look for all the new gear being tested in reports out of me, soon!
had to re-buy all my fishing gear.

    I tell you what..
    that’s a damn nice reel for $150.
I would have just ordered a scorpion but I don’t have an address just yet. Need to find a new house first.

Went to the Orvis Fly Shoppe in Bridgeport area of Lake Oswego in Oregon just now.
asked for some backing and some line for my new 8wt reel.
he tried to sell me some $100 fly line I couldn’t afford. Ended up shooting the **** for half an hour and getting some tips for the steelhead. Landed some line, backing and hooks to make a rig that he showed me how to tie.
looked like a bead with a hook trailer hanging one inch after the bead by some mono. I’ll need to do more research. He says these eggs kill it 2:1 against other eggs and these are the golden ticket hooks.

looks like I’m ready to try for steelhead and or salmon.

that move really took it out of me. Super tired. Just got back into town and unloaded the motorcycle.
gonna be a week or two before I’m ready to find some new fishes I never caught before.
    see y’all soon.

I need to figure out how to properly tie the rig he showed me and then make the bait work and hook a fish with it.

    Challenge Accepted.

You move more than a nomad in the desert!

So now you're in Oregon? A few weeks ago you were chasing redfish and sea trout.

A good fisherman going into Bass Pro Shops is like a contractor going into Home Depot. Prolly better not to ask any type of specific questions since you probably won't get any decent answers. You're just there to get supplies.
