Thread: Minijigs at Bass Pro?

  1. #1

    Default Minijigs at Bass Pro?

I have a lifetime supply of minijigs that are no longer in production so this question is not for me.

However, I have a buddy who is a first time fisherman and will be going to bass pro to pick up some minijigs. Can you kindly recommend what brand and colors for stocked trout?

    Thanks.

    UL,

I don't think I've met a brand of mini jigs that i liked over the other. I'd buy the bass pro ones, "Squirmin' Squirts."

I'd even get the 'kit.' https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass...min-squirt-kit

The ONLY thing I do recommend is getting the smallest Owner jig head to go with it, because the stock hooks on Bass Pro's jig heads blow.

As far as colors? It's stocker trout. I've never seen them be too particular when it comes to color, especially after they've been dumped. The ONLY time i've seen one color kill over the other is when the water is murky and I used a pearl colored one which made it easier for them to see.

    Huge thanks DarkShadow.

Do you per chance have a link to the Owner jighead? I did a search and must not have understood what you mean. Do the make jigheads with the elongated leadhead so that it can go inside the tube body?

    Thanks.

You know you've been out of the conventional fishing game so long that your reels and rods are collecting dust, and you don't realize when terminal tackle has been discontinued.

They USED to look like this. I guess your only other alternative is to sharpen down the dull *** bronze hooks on the cheap ones, or go with Gammies.

Like previous comments get other tube head insert jigs and color wise I would go with naturals such as grasshopper or your basic dark browns and greens. Also for the murkier water pinks, yellows, greens, and white

For stocked trout thier is no better jig than a gold trout magnet with a gold body. Here is a line to an artilce with lots of good trout jigs and baits.
