Had some family issues to deal with that kept me off the water the last 4 months but finally made it out last sunday with my friend Jaime. We both wanted yellowtail so we chose Catalina Island for our destination. We launched around 4am and got some live squid from Nachos. I headed for a spot just west of Avalon where the chlorophyll charts showed the cleanest water around the island. We anchored up in about 60ft and immediately started catching calico bass, pretty much one after the other. It didn't take long for the first yellowtail to bite and then they kept getting bigger and bigger throughout the day. We kept around 7-8 of them and released a lot of small ones. Jaime got lucky with a couple nice sheepshead as well. Great day on the Kolo, didn't have to move the boat once all day! Hope you enjoy the pics and video.
