Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.

Permit and Boat Rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We do not sell fishing licenses, bait, or tackle, so anglers must acquire these essentials items elsewhere prior to their visit. All day motor boats are discounted to $20 for seniors (60+) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and for active military every Saturday.
Due to the threat of Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Trout are hanging around helped along by a combination of a surprise infusion of DFW fish late in the week, and the inclement weather keeping the rising water temperatures under control.
The bass are active in tight and are being caught on crankbaits, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
The first catfish plant of the season went well with the fish being of good size and seemingly robust nature. Catfish can be found throughout the lake and bite well on cut mackerel or chicken liver, as well as dough-bait. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works well on both catfish and carp.
Crappie are being caught from shore and by boaters trolling for them. They are hitting Gulp minnows, mini-jigs, and live golden shiners. They are being caught from Bass Point to Crappie Rock, and near the West Buoy Line.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
