The bonito bite is still on!!! Western Pride limited out on Bonito (240 Bonito) for their AM Half Day Charter this morning and The Freelance near limits (400+) on their bonita bite as well.


These bonita are roughly about 10 miles from home and the biggest one has weighed in around 10 lbs. Majority are in the 5 - 8lb range. Best local bonito bite we have seen in years and they have been around since last Friday!


The Freelance Owner & Davey's Locker President, Don Brockman, wanted to share his amazing Bonito recipe with our e-mail club members. See below:


Bonita Recipe:


First off, never freeze the Bonita. Begin filleting the Bonita in the center of filet like any tuna. Half inch blood line cut then cut the pieces in one inch long chunks. Then if you want to make a stir fry, add your favorites veggies to a stir fry (Donny likes butter, garlic & onions) Heat Bonito for about two minutes flat, not any longer. If you would like to make fish tacos or fish burritos.... take whatever you don’t eat and crumble up add mayonnaise and mustard too taste and pickle relish and you have tuna salad for the week. Remember... secret to Bonita, DON'T FREEZE, stays good in refrigerator for about a week. ENJOY!
