Default Watching A Huge Rudderfish From A Pier!

Rudderfish "nenue" Off MCB Hawaii Fuel Pier!

While going to watch some buddies bowl i passed by the fuel dock on post at the Marine Base. At the end of the pier there were 3 anglers trying to entice 2 huge Rudderfish "nenue" with bread. These are powerful fighters when hooked. Best baits are either seaweed or bread. If using bread soak it up with water first so it'll sink down rather then float away when it hits the surface. At times they're GT's openly lurking around. Kenny Anders used to toss whole live baby Hammerheads to catch them when he was stationed here.

"Remember to soak the bread in water first so it doesn't float away".

Most of the fish hanging around are Surgeon Fish, that other big one was a Pualu, nasty tail spikes on those but taste good.
