Simply put it's a hard, sinking jerkbait but the lip is turned upwards. It's supposed to run at the surface and you can make it skip like a fleeing baitfish. I was sold right away, but most vendors are sold out. Anyway, got my paws on one and tried it out on Thursday. Either there is a steep learning curve or it's not what I thought. It wants to sink fast but the bill keeps it high in the water column as long as you reel at a fairly quick pace. Then the hard part.... making it skip out of the water. It can be done but not easily. Also the line gets caught on the hooks easily. When all the stars aligned and I got off a good retrieve, I did catch some fish. It is a new thing so it's fun, but I think a floating jerkbait with a very shallow dive will do the job as well. Just my opinion.
