    Default Dana Point Harbor Fishing

Hey guys! I have been to the Dana Point Harbor twice a while back and caught decent calicos on hotdogs and anchovy heads. Haven't been there in a while though. I want to find a place to go this weekend and escape the skunk. I will be going for saltwater bass mostly. A halibut or something else is fine. San Diego area is so big I son't want to keep driving around. What do you guys catch fish on in the harbor. Are the jetties worth it and the harbor in general? Don't see many things about this place and wanted to see an updated view of how the fishing is. I will be fishing from shore. I usually fish directly across the channel from the Wind & Sea on that little grassy area of land by Harbor Police. Any there spots you catch fish? Thank you for all the help and I can assure your tips will get me on some fish. Tight lines FNN! P.S. What are some other places good for saltwater bass fishing in SoCal? I know of San Diego Bay, but that would be a lot of spot hopping and all I know of is Glorietta Bay.

The jetty opposite where you've been is also good for shore fishing. There is a parking lot off Puerto Place.

Squid works for me for the spotfin. If you can get live smelt you can get some halibut

Personally, I would have a rod with some sort of natural (like squid) for "bait and wait" fishing and I'd have another rod set up with Hookup Baits plastic for cast and retrieve when I got tired of doing nothing.
