Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.

Due to the threat of Quagga mussels, there remains a ban on private water craft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
For those of you who haven’t been here in a while, there have been some changes since your last visit. Permits and Boat Rentals are now issued by a machine located at the Ranger Station. The machine can take cash (no $50 or $100 bills), debit, or credit. Please take note we do not sell fishing licenses, bait, or tackle so anglers must acquire these essentials elsewhere prior to their visit. The lake is offering $20 all day motor boats to active military every Saturday.
The opening of trout season is just three weeks away. The lake will re-open for weekday fishing beginning December 9th following the first trout plant. We are getting our trout from a new hatchery this year Calaveras Trout Farm in Northern California. We are continuing to stock aggressively right out of the gate with 9,000 lbs. slated for December alone. So make plans to come and join us this winter for what promises to be another great season.
The big bass are biting once again. After a month long drought in the bass fishing we finally had a weekend where multiple double digit largemouth were being reported. The largest to be weighed in belonged to Michael Orris of Camp Pendleton who caught and released a 12.10# bass using a rattle-trap at the South Shore Rock Pile.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.

Last time I gave a read between the lines analysis of the Lake Wohlford Press release. I received some less then flattering pm's about don't inform the chimps about how to read and understand what they mean. So instead of doing that again, just think Lake Wohlford is a sponsor that helps pay's the bills around here. At least their not Russian's trying to influence our election. (like they did on Facebook!!) The jury is still out about our GD section though!! lol
