Default Lake Perris Green Sunfish Redear Hybrid

Found this image online. Not sure when this fish was caught, but who cares it's pretty!

There's probably some Bluegill mixed in there as well.

Interesting. I have caught fish that I know were bluegill/green sunfish hybrids, but never a redear/green sunfish hybrid, which that appears to be. Bluegill/green sunfish hybrids are supposed to be sterile, but I am not convinced of that since I have caught fish that appeared to be 3/4 one and 1/4 of the other.

Yeah I'm not convinced that hybrid bluegills and greens are sterile either. Given the right conditions, the related species definitely mix and their offspring breed with success. I've seen this in some park lakes.

Here's a green sunfish bluegill from one of my past park trips.
