    Default questions about Havasu

yes, I have questions about Havasu. one. are there crawdads in the lake and if there are where do you find them ? just went up there last weekend. haven't been up there since childhood. caught my first smallmouth. only 13 inches. threw it back. was thinking about heading up there in the spring. found a lot of shallow areas around brush. seems like a largemouth wonderland. also. where can i get info like topo maps, guide info, and general info on fishing the lake. dont want your fishing spots. just want to pointed in the right direction. thank you.

Yes there are crawdads in Havasu, occasionally you will find them in the belly's of the stripers even.

The largest crawdad I have ever seen came out of the belly of a smallmouth bass weighed in at a club tournament I fished. The pincher on it was almost 4" long!

Any rocky shoreline. Dusk and dark seem to be opportune times. Don't know if you can set up a trap. You'd have to check regulations.

Also focus on message boards from Arizona. Some can provide latest information, including water temps and water clarity.

My dad passed this down from his dad: Find a rocky area, like around the site 6 launch ramp point. Tie a chunk of liver to a piece of mono, drop it in the rocks and after a few minute slowly pull it up. Dip your net under the crawdad before it comes out of the water. The crawdad won't let go until it breaks the surface. best results are after dark, but you can catch them all day. We used to get them from Fairmont park and catch smallies at Perris.

Pretty cool how the Havasu dads look so different from the normal ones I find here in SoCal- Orange tipped claws, and they have that blue on them-
