Got this e-mail this morning that may be of interest to some boaters:

I work for the Southern California Offshore Range, which manages the air, land and seaspace associated with San Clemente Island which is an incredibly diverse and busy training area. I recommend that all boaters plan ahead by using
www.scisland.org to know what safety zones will be off-limits during any intended trips to the island. In realtime, you can contact KRAKEN on BTB 82A for status update. Vessels that foul the range create costly delays to military training, sometimes even causing a loss of whole training events and qualifications for personnel about to deploy. Vessels may be sanctioned and fined by the USCG for violation of restricted safety zones. The Navy has at times considered making the entire island off-limits to fishing to alleviate this problem-- that would be terrible for the fishing community!-- so please do your part and avoid fouling active ranges. When contacted by the range or by any training units, please follow guidance and depart the area as quickly as possible.
