No ball bearings. Liking the orange color too. Interesting.

Yeah, I'd like to check one out. I recently purchased several 13 rods and reels. Concept A's, C's, and their KP reels as well. They're all very nice, especially the A's for the price point. The no ball bearings has me intrigued.

I'm a big fan of the 13 Fishing reels. I have multiple A's an A3 and an E. All have been solid without any issues.

Currently have another A on backorder I'll probably cancel for the new Z.

Anybody know what the long use period of these non-bearings are?

If they do, they're not saying. Surely 13 Fishing has put thousands of collective hours on test mules.

"...a proprietary, space-age polymer that completely eliminates the need for all ball bearings."

As someone who sells industrial components, this sounds like "Rulon" to me, which is basically a formulation of teflon. Rulon has been used for ages in industry and load ratings of 1000 psi are common. The low loads of a fishing reel would not be a problem.

    Rulon Bearing Catalog (.pdf)

They claim to be polymer discs. Better than ceramics? I Don't know, but makes sense for saltwater.
