Thread: Bass in LA River?

  1. #1

    Default Bass in LA River?

Portions of the L.A. River look really fishy with lots of trees and brush and tules. It sure looks like there would be Largemouth Bass in those areas. With the river being cleaned up and the water quality much better, I would think that bass would do pretty good in this water way. Does anyone know if there are crawdads, or other fish for bass to feed on in there? Has anyone caught any bass there? I know there's carp in there.

Some bass, some but very few and don't expect anything larger then a pound. Most of the fish get washed down to long beach when the winter floods hit the river. People have been keeping the fish too as well as carp. Even the carp population isn't what it used to be. Shame.

Lots of small bass as someone mentioned, especially near the Lake Balboa section of the river.

The e-coli brown trout are thriving tho, thanks to the 'stocking' being done by the local homeless population.
