Default Sat 6-24-2017 LAB, PB Hali On A Float Tube

    Sat 6-24-17
    LAB ... 0515 hrs to 1030 hrs

3-species, 20-fish landed and a new PB Hali on the FT.

    Air: 62-71 deg
    Water: 68 deg
Wind: 4 to 8 mph SW
Water clarity: cloudy green, dirty and trashy
Tidal Coeficient: 101 High value in morning - 99 at end of day
    Tidal Conditions: 0500 hrs -1.4', 0600 hrs -0.7', 0700 hrs 0.6', 0800 hrs 2.0', 0900 3.3', 1000 4.0', 1055 HT 4.3'
Swell: SSE w/ a SW taking over at the end of the day. 2.0'
    Wave sets: 15 sec's
    Sun Rise: 0544 hrs.
    Sun Set: 2002 hrs
    Moon Phase: New moon
    Surf 2' - 4'
iSolunar prediction: 4-fish Major Period: 0500 hrs until 0713 hrs
Tackle Used: 3" BH Bay Smelt on a 3/8oz Natural CoolBait underspin w/ 2/0 hook, the Drop-Shot rig w/ a Gamakatsu size 2/0 Offset Shank Worm EWG hook with a 5" Zoom Fluke with a 5/8 oz finesse weight and what I used for shooting-the-dock form of casting was both the 1/4oz and 3/8oz Sardine Green / Silver Hook-Up Baits.
I slather Hot Sauce scent on everything.
    Distance kicked: 1.53 miles
    Calories burnt: 578

This morning's fish count: 20 fish

And my PB Hali landed on a float tube.
    26" and 5.25-lbs

This Hali was able to avoid my net at least 6 times; that I can recall, and it made deep runs; that turned me in circles on my float tube each time it managed to escape the net with a burst of energy but with loosening the drag setting, patience, perseverance and determination ... I finally prevailed. It barely fit into my net.
    Thank you Poseidon!

This Hali broke my 1.5 year standing PB Hali from the float tube.
SWAT brotha Jasuuun had introduced me to float tube fishing and he was with me on my maiden voyage when I was blessed with the 25" Hali.

Thank you Jasuuun! I've been hooked on FT fishing ever since!

    How ya been TUNAVIC,

Yes, quite a few are being landed in the skinny.
There is a lot of bait in the water these days, so on the in coming tide the predator fish are pushing the shiners up against the beach for easy picken's.

I see a lot of flaty's being caught from the sand w/ a drop-shot rig or by fly-rod casting.

There's one out there with your name on it! Go get em!

    Hi Dan:

thanks for posting your PB halibut session for all of us. Congratulations my friend!!!! You get bonus points on CPRing your fish and letting the big girl go back to breeding. with all the time you've spent on the water on your float "toob" the last couple of years (has it been that long now?), you have really perfected your technique and mastered it Dan (I know cuz I've been reading and sometimes replying to your post).

take care Dan and God bless you,

    Nick

    Brotha Nick .... howdy!

I started back in December of 2015 with SWAT Brotha Jasuuun as my mentor ... and a darned good one at that!

I still stand behind the ol' SWAT creed .... I always release my PB's and I still pay it ahead, every chance I get.

You've been a true friend and a Brotha all along.
Thank you for keeping an eye on me and for having my 6!
We need to hook it up!

Say hello to your gals with hugs from me as well!

Take good care and and God Bless you and all your loved one as well!

    Your Brotha SP Dan <"))><
