Default Newbies on the New Del Mar

Went out Saturday on the New Del Mar with a buddy of mine and his son neither of whom had ever fished (successfully.)

Logan was totally stoked about our cool looking boat.

Dropped anchovies in about 240’. Day started kinda slow for us, but eventually Captain got us on a nice spot that we drifted. Double hook ups every time. Nice vermillion and Boccaccio. A loooooooong crank up.

Ended with a nice bag of fillets and tired arms.

New Del Mar is my boat of choice for taking kids out. Crew all very helpful, even gave us a scoop in the front tank. Good guys over there. Definitely recommend.

    Good boat, good captain BUT.........

Didn't like that their non paying 'friends' hog the best spots
And back row is taken even before u hop on...

They set up the newbies with rock fishing
While they set up yellows/game fish for theirs so they can flyline

They'll cut ur line in a heartbeat if their fish crosses into ur line.
Almost wanted to get into a fight over it but
It's not worth my time ,trouble and they got the whole crew obviously....

Needless to say I took my business and $$$ elsewhere....

I'm sorry you didn't have the best experience on that boat. I use to fish with Captain Rick O now owner of the landing and didn't have that experience. (back then) Now I fish the Spitfire with Captain Jeremy & John. I've only had good experiences on that boat. A tip to get a better spot on the boat. Make a reservation "EARLY" they don't require a deposit. (at least up till last year) They do call reservations in order they were made. So we normally get a really good spot. If there was a problem (talk to the Captain) On the New Del Mar if you talked to the Captain and still weren't satisfied. Go over his head!!! Talk to Rick O'finger (owner of the boat and landing) The Rick I knew years ago should & would make it right!!!
