Thread: Any recent Pyramid Reports?

    Default Any recent Pyramid Reports?

Thinking of fishing Pyramid next week, with the improving weather. Any recent reports? I heard the water is still off color. How quickly will it clear?

Fished Pyramid today from a small boat. We threw hard baits all day for 10 fish; one small striper, two nice trout (surprise), 4 largemouth and 3 smallmouth. Water is still stained and visibility low.

Went yesterday.. water temp was 59 on the north and west side of the lake and very off color stained brown... On the south end by the dam it was down to 54 due to the inflow of water from the pipe... Didn't seem like anyone caught all that much. At least that was the word at the gate on the way out... New Quagga muscle thing is kinda of a pain now...
The pic is the break between the dirty water and the dirtier water being pumped in...

What is the new Quagga mussel protocol? Haven't been to Pyramid since before they were discovered there.

Also, Sunday might have been slower partially due to all the pressure from the Angler's Marine tournament on Saturday. Looks like they did well, 66 teams total, and about 2/3rds of them weighed in 5-fish limits.

So now when you leave the lake... Your boat must be dry.. then they give you a band that is only good at Pyramid..

    Thanks for the info.

So what if the boat is not dry? Or you miss the exit booth closing time (as they close at off-the-water time, not gate close time)? Are you stuck within the gates? Or you just don't get tagged?

And what, then, is the point of that tag? What if you don't have that tag coming into the lake? Are they still doing clean-and-dry entry inspections? If so, what is the point if Pyramid is already infected?

And why don't they take the Pyramid tag at Castaic? They pour literally millions of gallons of infested Pyramid water into Castaic through the infested pipes, but they're worried about a few teaspoons of water in our bilges?

I guess the point of the tag is so you don't have to get reinspected at pyramid when you come back...

That's a dramatic difference in water color. Did not see that break last Wednesday. Looking forward to the water clearing and warming up so the stripers get more active.
