Default The OFFICIAL 2017 LA Dodgers Thread - Sponsored by The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals

This thread is brought to you by the 9th Court. "Balancing the Powers since 1866 - We Gonna Be Busy."

You know the drill, if you're going to talk about your own team, start another thread. (Which won't happen considering how god awful the Angels are going to be this year.)

I think 2017 will go down to the wire, considering San Francisco's Achilles heel last year was their bull pen. They picked up a few decent arms, especially Melancon, and that might shore up the main problem that took them out of playoff contention last year. The Dodgers need to remain healthy, which is easier said than done. If our pitchers are healthy and we don't have to rely on a rag tag crew to get us through the year, we may pick up the NL West, but as it stands, we will get hurt. It's the Dodgers.

But, we still will qualify for the Wildcard spot.

Will Ryu ever come back? When will Baez blow his first game? Will Urias have a 1st inning that doesn't require a minimum of 42 pitches? Will Puig have another kid before the All Star Game? In what inning will Rich Hill get his first blister? Will Gonzo hit more homers than his age? Will Justin Turner earn his keep?

    Prognostications:

    NATL WEST W L

    San Francisco vaGiants 88 74
    Los Angeles Dodgers 87 75
    Colorado Rockies 84 78
    Arizona Diamondbacks 70 92
    San Diego Padres 69 93

no possible way Riyu pitches another major league inning. no way

this season (like last season) will be another place-holder until the youngsters come into their own. any success (or another vaGiants meltdown) will be a happy coincidence.

patience is the watchword for the next few years whilst the farm system fleshes out our roster.

Thanks for putting together the useful links DS.

It may be far fetched, but the Dodgers might not have as many injury problems as they did last year...I'm wondering how far Dave Roberts can take them if that happens? I'm hoping to see Joc hit over .275...if not they need a different center fielder...they certainly have enough candidates.

If Joc hits .275 and flashes the same leather as he did last year, I don't think there are many candidates within our system that can take over his spot.
