    Actually they will annihilate all the plankton and severely impact the growth of fish. fry will be malnourished, and shad will be especially impacted.

    At a the Casitas Water Board Meeting a number of years ago, while they were considering banning all private boats, a CA Dept of F & G representative testified that even if you band all private boats you are still going to get Quagga Mussels. When questioned about the statement, he said because diving ducks pick up the larvae in their feathers and will carrying them from one lake to another!

    Yep. Ask the Salmon fishers in the Great Lakes how the quaggas are working out for them. They out-compete the alewifes for plankton, and the King Salmon fishery has completely collapsed.
