We went to lake henshaw today. It very nice weather just a little bit of wind but not too hot at all. We saw a lot of ppl with carp tackle on dock and around dam area. They pull out quite a few of carp both area. Talked to the lady and a couple of workers there about crappie but everyone said the same about just a few bites here and there. We start from dam since my friend is crazy about carp. Carp jumping everywhere around out but no take on our bait. The other and only boat caught one but on the shore might got a few since we heard quite a few time of yelling.

Around noon we left the dam and follow our originally plan which is drift fishing for crappie and catfish. We started drifting with our homemade drift sock (5 gallon bucket) 10 mins later first catfish abouy 1.5 lb on the boat with shrimp bait. We drifted pass dock area and got a big bite bring the fish in about 3 lbs tangle with other crappie rig line and lost that fish. 5 mins later catfish bite again another 1.5 - 2 lb. Then the excitement come one of the crappie rod got bendo. Bring the not so bad palm size crappie in( the first of out catxh and the main target for this trip).

We did two more drifting pass, caught two more 1-2lbers and one small ding catfish but no crappie to be found.end the day at around 3:00 with 4 cats and 1 crappie. Not perfect but at least we got what we came here for and get to try drift fishing.
