Thread: Usual suspects in the harbor.....and the man of steel

Default Usual suspects in the harbor.....and the man of steel

Late report in the Harbor (and slightly out side maybe a 1/4 mile) off the yak. Last weeks catch using the 3 inch green/red grub, live chovies, Lucky Craft Flash Pointer 115 and the Yo-zuri Sashimi Jerkbait. I like the Yo-zuri side to side action better but the Lucky Craft got more hits and more species. Barracuda, Sand Bass, Calico Bass, Spotties, Halibut, 1 pound giant smelt, Macs and even the lone steelie were biting. Last 4 trips had 15 to 40+ fish days during 3 to 6 hour days. Oh yeah, lastly....watch out for the Sea Lions. They will grab your catch right from your hands. Lost one big barracuda that way then learned my lesson and netted or boated everything. All fish released including a few legal butts.

Cool deal on the steelhead and great first post. Mind me asking which harbor you were fishing at? I feel like I might be able to guess it, but I'm still curious. Thanks.

Wow thats incredible you caught a steelhead. Is there anywhere around in southern California that you can actually steelhead fish?
