Default Big Bear Lake 5-28-2016 Report

My dad and I went to BBL this past Saturday. We began trolling right next to the west boat launch and caught two early on flashers tipped with nightcrawlers. We had quite a few missed hookups. The action died down around 9:00. Later, we caught 7 more around noon with white needlefish on leadcore. We even caught one on our new downrigger! At 1:30, the clouds came over and the bite died down. We were just one short of a limit when a fish took off with our flasher. My dad took the rod but lost it. This happened again, until on the third hook up, my dad finally managed to get our last fish into the boat. All of our fish were caught around Metcalf Bay and Zebra Room at 15-20 ft. Overall, a great day on the water.

I’ve never shore fished from BBL before, but in the morning, I see a lot of people on the north side of the lake by the dam. I’ve heard that Berkeley power mouses and Nightcrawlers on a Carolina Rig are your best bet. A go to color for me at BBL is pink and white.Other than that, I don’t know much else.

Also, check out Fishhound.com http://www.fishhound.com/fishing-rep...g-bear-lake-ca and this post by Calicanuck http://fishingnetwork.net/forum4/sho...eport!-(Video)
This video for technique not location. It is too shallow there now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n96c4Zen68
Good luck out there. Tight Lines.
