Thread: fishfinder mount for float tube.

  1. #1

Default fishfinder mount for float tube.

anyone know where i can pick one of these badboys up?

its made by Scotty, who seems to specialize in downriggers and accecories. model number is 268.

ive searched bps, online and at the store, emailed cabelas to see if they can do a special order, called turners to see if they can help (ha) and checked numerous online retailers and they are all sold out(and seem to not even be active for the past couple years)

i know i can fabricate one fairly easy, but wil make mounting the transducer AND the fishfinder rather simple.

I don't know much about that finder but a easy way to mount one on a tube is how socalbassman did his....

by making a pvc rod holder to hang on the side of yor tube attached to the d-rings, than make a extension off of the rod holder and have it come up and over the side of your tube ( so it would rest on the top of the bladder) and you mount the finder on a 4 end connector pvc and the transducer can come off of that....

you can look at my thread (fishfinder is now mounted) and it shows how I did it... mine is mouned on a toon but it can give you a basic idea on mounting it to the 4 end connector... what is the price of that finder your looking at?

You can make one similar to the one in the pic very easily. I have one that I made sorta like that.

All you need to do is cut a couple pieces of plastic. I used a plastic tote lid. One for the finder and one for the transducer. I bought some of that nylon strap at Wal-Mart for a couple bucks. Cut some slots in the plastic to run the strap through, mount the finder and transducer to the pieces of plastic and you're pretty much done. I bought some of those plastic quick connect deals and had them sewn to the strap. It's a lot easier than trying to use those slide type.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
Matt, I'm not so much intrested in the finder as I am the way its mounted. I've seen so Cal's setup and its pretty sweet, but I like the lo-pro look of this mount, and I aleady have a rod holder for my tube.

Bako, your idea seems rather similar and really easy. I might try to make one of those this Friday.
I've also been thinking about attaching an 8 inch gooseneck RAM mount onto the rodholder I have and just have the fishfinder protruding off that and the transducer attached to the strap on the bottom. Ill get something going by Friday night!
