Main lake is still down a mile. Sad. Lagoon looks prime, only saw 1 guy on a small skiff fishing. That little pond should be kickin out pigs ? Any intell on the action ? I was just taking the long way home and thought I'd chime in .
Need to stop next trip and wet a line at the lagoon soon.

^^^Proper guess. So a long time industry guy and shop owner friend of mine gave me the scoop on those big bass caught by him...high teens and low 20s. This was the 90s early 00s swim bait craze.

Do you thing those huge mothers made it all the way back up to the main lake or dropped of at the lagoon? :) :) :)
I know what I would have done..........to save my precious time that is.......

Took my kayak out on the lagoon sometime last year to exercise but not to fish. Did a few laps around and saw a couple 1-2lbers, definitely no sign of any pigs.

And if anyone catches a striper there please post a report. It's an urban legend...

Actually ALL of Butch's fish were caught in the lagoon. Traditionally he trolls the big baits but he also throws them. The fish you are thinking of were caught by a few different guys up in the main lake before the swimbait craze ever really even started. I'm sure a few were caught legally i.e. crawdads but plenty were caught illegally i.e. live trout. Yes you are correct a lot of those fish would be weighed in town and released in the lagoon. Butches fish were more than likely descendants of these big pigs.

Three years ago at one of our float tube derby's a 16 year old kid hooked up 3/4 of the way back on the lagoon and he ended up being dragged in his tube to the other side of the lagoon (main launch ramp, Paradise cove area). The Lifeguard brought him back to the check in area and with him he had a 22.06 pound striper.
