New Years PB!!! 1/2/15

Took advantage of the beautiful conditions before it turns up.
Arrived around 3pm and started picking off smelts with the LC. Then i get a solid bite on a slow twitching retrieve with the LC. Starts taking drag... I'm thinking hali. It fought awesome and when i got it in the skinny i realized it was a croaker. A PB YFC

The very next cast i'm thinking maybe there is a school around... Got hit withing 10 seconds.. Another nice one at 16"!



Moved to another AO and switched to the DS picked off a
20" Hali


Switched to the salt minnow and caught one after the beautiful sunset. It was a rat calico and I called it a night at last light. Short and sweet session. I'm starting to dig the evening bite.

I think that most people underestimate the YFC .... they are a "great" fighting fish and have fooled me on many occasions!

It appears that your 2016 season is off to a great start Sir.

Nice fish! Yeah those croakers are really strong for their size. Super fun to catch. They are related to that other strong fish from the Gulf states, the Channel Bass/Redfish. Kinda looks like them too..
