Checked into Reverse Creek Lodge and then headed to Walker lake for afternoon bite
We CPR'ed a few Browns fun fishing new waters. Drove passed Grant lake, water level
low a few anglers and tubers by the dam area and
Silver Lake water level was way up compared to last year's trip.
Saturday 17OCT:
Got up early went to June Lake to rent 2 boats. light rain and wind
some pockets of sun now and then. Trolled a Pink Berkley Flicker shad down 5
colors on the north side rock cliff area-picked up 3 rainbows,
my partner got a few with mini-jigs towards the SE corner. Other boat: He
was trolling a jointed Rainbow Rapala down 6 colors on the south side.
Big fish lossed due to bad knot at the swivel leader curly tail -
they saw the fish on the surface.. the heavy rain and wind came, and we went in
at 1030 back to the cabin for some lunch. Trolled after lunch, lossed the
flicker shad snagged using 7 colors off a point. Changed to a
frog patterned Needle fish and got a couple of rats. Temps dipped down that
evening, sunday's forecast was 60 percent chain of rain. Stopped at JLB- to try
their pale ale and IPA's, we voted this will be our 1st stop when we return
next year.
Sunday 18OCT:
Hit Silver Lake after opening, light rain/wind- most of the west mountain tops had snow
dumped on them. Trolled and got a couple of rat rainbows-heavy rain came in
so we retreated to the cabin for breakfast and watch some NFL. Went back to the lake
around 1100, trolled and couple rats were caught on kastmaster and super dupers.
Monday 19OCT:
Left June Lake for Bishop. Stopped and fished the Owens River 2 miles passed
the Kmart, partner got a couple better grade rainbows then the loop -CPR .
Left Bishop around 1pm.
Overall not much of fish caught between 4 anglers-maybe 20 fish. New water
to explore next fall is Crowley, Parker and Grant Lake. The fall colors, cool air,
1st snowfall, and local brewery with good friends made it worth while.
Post a few pics later.
