    Default They're Baa-aaack...

City Sushi and I swung by Balboa to find Fall on it's way. Crazy cool coloring on some of them. All the aquarium dumping must be fueling a cichlid evolution hyper-drive. starting to look like a Lake Victoria tank out there.

Cichlasoma Mossambica female.. These tilapia are very pretty, especially the spawning males with their black bodies, red tipped fins and white lower jaws. The Salton Sea had lots of big 3 pounders back in the 1980s.

Cool, the cement riverbed by Firestone Blvd and the 605fwy gets loaded with them, thousands during certain times of the year, their actually in that little canal in the middle of the river bed,it's only about 6" deep and 5-8' across, when you see the white egrets down there, you know the talapia are in there!
