I assume it's okay to use barbed hooks ... even though you might catch a trout?

Billy b, on page 33, section 7.50 a2 in the CA freshwater regulations it says, "Gear restrictions listed in this section apply to the take of all species of fish unless otherwise noted". As you no doubt know, in that section it says that only barbless hooks are allowed for trout during August, and they don't list any exceptions that I can see. Hope this helps.
