Default Can someone identify this fish???

I am pretty positive that it's a goldfish, I just wanted to find out for sure...

Just for your information I measured him at around 14", so I'd say he's one monster for his species

I looked at images of Crucian Carp, but the coloration and shape of the head and mouth are a bit different.

It looks like a feral goldfish...brownish, and pretty normal size for a wild type one...used to catch them in upper Newport Bay where the creek comes in while sampling with gill nets for National Marine Fisheries grant work.

Thanks for the info! Feral Goldfish has a nice ring to it.

I think people let them go as orange pet goldfish, but they're pretty easy for predators to spot, so there's probably some natural selection going on in subsequent generations that moves the population towards more cryptic, mud-colored forms...but hey, I just remembered that on this website we're supposed to identify all unknown fish species as some type of squawfish, so it's probably one of those

    Squawfish.
