Default Santa Ana River -post Lake Fire

A discouraging day in the mountains yesterday. The recent mountain thunderstorms have washed ash and silt into the South Fork and main stem of the Santa Ana River. The water has the consistency of scorched choclate milk. I did not notice any dead fish but it is hard to believe that any trout can survive in such conditions:

You must have been close to seven oaks as Forest Rd N109 was closed in it's entirety due to potential for mud slides and ash flows. Many parts of the Station have never recovered from their ash and mud flows. Very sad, indeed.

We checked out the section of the S. Fork just north of Hwy. 38 (the section south of the 38 is closed), and also checked the main stem of the S.A off Glass Rd. before 7 Oaks.
Between the drought and the wildfires it has been a rough time for the local creeks.
