Thread: The high price of fishing our local lakes.

Default The high price of fishing our local lakes.

First of all I'm not talking about Pay lakes!!!! (Irvine, SARL or LNL) I'm talking about the OTHER lakes DVL, Skinner, Perris, Silverwood, Greenvalley, Lake Gregory etc etc. It's come to my attention in reading other posts, that these lakes aren't as affordable as they once were. Well I am going to equate the affordability of these lakes to political philosophy. I think everyone agrees that it takes a certain amount of money each year to maintain any lake. The question is, "who is going to pay for it????" I have been labeled a Liberal Socialist by most members on this board. For I believe that certain parts of the GREAT OUTDOORS should be enjoyed by all citizens regardless of their pocket book. (That's a Liberal Socialist idea!!!) The way to accomplish that is for a little bit of tax's be set aside for just that purpose. I'm normally booed off the stage for suggesting such a thing. The Conservative philosophy is, "why should my tax's go for someone else's benefit????"

Now let's take this back to the high price of fishing our local lakes. THIS IS A CONSERATIVE IDEA!!!!!! The people who fish the lakes, "SHOULD BE THE ONES WHO PAY FOR THE LAKE!!!!" So if you're a Conservative, "YOU SHOULD BE PROUD TO PAY THOSE FEES!!!!!" If you're not proud and still claim to be a Conservative, what does that make you?????? Remember, "I'm a Liberal I think the fees should be affordable to everyone!!!!" My point is you can't have it both ways!!!!

So what is a reasonable entrance fee to fish these lakes. Should entrance fees go towards the cost of keeping the gate open?

I'm proud to pay the fees. Keeps the riff-raff out. More fish for us.

City Dad, I think I know the closest thing to a public riff-raff free lake. It's Lake Barrett in San Diego!!!!! Why is it close to being riff-raff free???? I'll tell you why, it's in the middle of nowhere, it's expensive to get on the lake. ($170 for a family 0f 4) and a hassle to get tickets. (Big hassle) Plus C&R only and heavily patrolled by DFG. Put that all together and it's pretty riff-raff free!!!!! By the way, the fishing is great!!!!!!

I think the price of admission to a lake should be free. The price of leaving the lake should be a sack of picked up garbage.

Somehow I think you missed the levity of CD's post.

CD, you may have to start certain posts with /sarcasm before you start typing.

Wouldn't work - you'd have some conservative janitor's group coming out against anglers.

Actually I was trying to make a point to all readers. Remember a few months ago people were complaining about letting the lake lice into DVL. The general consensus was people wanted a quiet lake to fish at, with little or no riff-raff (lake lice) allowed. My point I was trying to make was, "the more difficult and more expensive it is to get in a lake." THE MORE PEOPLE IT WILL EXCLUDE!!!!!!
