Thread: Curious Why There Aren't More Pics In Reports ?

We all fish for different reasons. Mine is a passion for the outdoors and the fact I've slowed down some and skiing off cliffs or dropping in on a monster wave would probably kill me these days. I have a few close friends with whom I share pictures with on occasion but normally I just don't feel the need to share them with the world, certainly partially due to the same reasons you stated LQ.

I did not even notice Hawgz picture of the DD hell if I caught a DD largemouth I might even post a pic, somewhere.

    They tried.

Apparently it wasn't such a rousing success as you would think. They even tried doing the blanket "log in only" approach and that got rescinded a few weeks after implementation.

I don't recall FNN trying to implement a private/vetted user section (but I'll take your word for it). And the "log in only" option wouldn't have stopped lurking or encouraged a better exchange of information.

We are fisherman without pics, a shot of the fish on the scale, video, and a newspaper article next to it with the date it never happen. EVERYONE SHOULD POST PICS we all like fish porn.

Unfortunately, we live in an area where a picture can result in pressure on a certain lake, river, stream or spot, whose population makes it difficult for an angler do go forth and post a picture without it resulting in a sudden influx in pressure.

I've visited areas across the country where I'd feel it is ok to divulge information, considering the amount of opportunities those areas have. But to assume the same type of courtesy can be applied to this area across the board is a bit short sighted.

Just think, about 10-15 yrs ago, the only pics we saw were posted on a bulletin board at the local tackle shop near the water we fished. (Hell, I still/always look at the picture boards, even today).

Back then, that pic was taken at the time of the catch, we waited until all the frames in the camera were used up, the film was then taken to a photo developer and that took a week or so. Someone then had to take the 4x5 back to the tackle shop where someone else had to get out a push pin and stick to a cork board (after all the praises were duly given, of course). Finally, when we went fishing and took a look at the board, we got to see someone else's fish picture.

Sure, watch your background, don't shoot if there are innocent bystanders (aka points of identification), but if ya got the shot, take it!

    Post it!

Today, it's just a few clicks, what could be easier than that?

Well stated. Times have changed and if we dont change with them we will be left behind. Maybe this could be a reason for someone to get better acquainted with the new ways to share things.
Seems to me the guys that come to this site arent the ones trashing our favorite spot. Its the a$$hats that just go and buy their supplies in the way to fish that destroy or fisheries.
Be smarter and open the pic in PAINT and hide any distinguishing markers of your spot. Thanks everyone for the input and participation thus far.
    Tight Lines.
