Default Curious Why There Aren't More Pics In Reports ?

I have not been able to fish in 3 years do to my move off the mountain, so nothing to post
I always tried to post pics of fish because it seemed to me that folks dont want to just read a report. Pictures of what you caught or didnt catch seem to lively up a post and gives the reader something to identify with. MORE FISH PORN

    Why dont you post pics????
Is it because lack of a camera, to hard to post, dont want to give any "VISUAL" clues to your secret spot, or something else ?

I am truly curious as to why this place doesn't have a HUGE amount of pics with almost everyone having a camera on their phones these days.

(on a side note) Glad to see less harshness on here these days, seems most of "MY FRIENDS" on here have vanished or dont post. Really would like to see this site be a more positive place for folks to get their fishing news fix.
Maybe a like/dislike button type thing to help folks recognize what others are thinking that are not posting.

When I first found this place I thought it was the bee's knee's and love how it breaks down the forums and all the COOL HEADS this site contains. It's helped me in so many ways and I REALLY love seeing pics of fish.
I hope to be around more because I have the itch & I cant scratch it so I turn to FNN for some pics to help "take" me on your fishing trip.

AGAIN THANK YOU FNN FOR HOSTING THIS SITE.
    old pic i havent been

Well put me on the other side of the discussion. Pictures worth nothing and a fish is a fish is a fish, conditions on the water and of the water, lures used, bait activity etc... is what actually helps a fisherman in my mind.

I'm weird that way I guess.

Seal is quite correct in that info is more valuable than a picture. While a picture of a brag fish is nice to see it often serves no purpose other than to feed the fisherman’s ego that caught it and to reinforce the time on the water and experience it took him to catch it.

The time on the water and experience that it took to catch that fish is what that fisherman invested. Often it took many years of time, learning the water and patterns and also many dollars invested in gear, equipment, fees and fuel.

We have to face the fact that the fishing waters in California for the most part are over pressured and often over fished and to broadly post every detail of the catch would bring even more pressure to your “Secret Spot”.

Sadly people on the BB are like people that go to the bank. Some make deposits, some make deposits and withdrawals and some only make withdrawals.

Too often today people do not want to spend the time to learn the craft and want the easy way out. I personally think that “Paying your dues” makes one appreciate what a great sport fishing is and makes the effort to preserve it for future generations.

Here is a pic of a Trout caught at Lake Crowley several years ago. While the picture is great it gives no info about how it was caught.

For info on the catch it was caught off Sandy Point in 9-13 ft of water. 6wt fly rod, fishing a #18 barbless long shank Crystal Zebra Midge under an indicator 18” off the bottom.

While that info is valuable will it guarantee someone the same results tomorrow, next week or next month is doubtful. There is no substitute for time on the water and experience and it isn’t free.

    Formula for good fishing report(IMHO)

Enough info to Inspire others own ideas(not every detail so someone can just copy what you did and where)

A few pics, one is enough sometimes, Just to prove you were there and did in fact catch that 5 LBer.

never hurts to throw in a joke or funny story, maybe a Jab at a fellow angler that you personally know. not naming names here but... nvm

Lets face it though Pics do make reports more interesting and real to the reader.

Caught this little guy while testing out the 3" slugo

No more posting for me after this. I fish every week, sometimes multiple times and used to post more fish reports. I don't post to brag, I post pics because to me and many others it's eye candy, we like to look at fish pics. What's the point of a fishing site if you can't post anything but conditions? One can go to the weather channel for that. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Been a good run, ya'll take care now.

I don't know if anyone has noticed around here, that I'm the number 1 complainer about HATER'S and NAZIS or just plain stupid people criticizing fish reports!!!!!! These people "THINK IT'S THEIR JOB" to be an editor about every fish report given. The usual end results is for the writer of the fish report that's just been criticized giving those famous last words. "THAT'S THE LAST FISH REPORT I WILL EVER WRITE FOR FNN." That's one of the reasons I defended the GD section with vigor when it came under attack. If people give in to the criticism from the peanut gallery around here, "THERE WON'T BE A WEB SITE LEFT!!!!!!!" I personally like this place, so if you want it to survive you're going to have to sometimes fight off the wolves!!!!!!!!!!!

My intention was to give direction to users not currently posting reports, any report is useful Info, eye candy, or yes show off that pig you caught over the weekend. what good are fish stories if you have no one to share them with. props to all those sharing their successes and failures with us couch fisherman. The way i see it this site is a way to subsidize the fishing addition until the next time we can hit the water ourselves. Party on Wayne!

Some ppl rub others the wrong way but most is all in fun.
