Thread: Chemehuevi Wash South of Havasu Landing

Default Chemehuevi Wash South of Havasu Landing

My buddy and I are taking the kids out to Havasu this weekend to do some camping and fishing and I was looking for some good shore fishing close to our camp site at Havasu Landing. I was checking Google Earth and saw Chemehuevi Wash about a mile from camp. Looks like there is a big sand bar that's about a 1/2 mile long and extends about 1000ft into the lake. Looks like there is some brush and trees covering the shoreline too so I'm wondering how accessable the area is. Has anyone ever fished there and had luck? Does anyone know if the sandbar is exposed or submerged? Any info would be appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of some other nice areas to fish near Havasu Landing I'd really appreciate the info as well.

Always fish from a boat not shore but in that area there the redears should be good about now. So maybe try a piece of crawler in the shallow coves with brush in them sorry thats all I got have a good campout. Plus heard the cats at night are doing real good right now....

Got to Havasu Landing around 11:30pm. Set up camp and my buddy and I decided to soak some bait around 1am. Tossed out a few crawlers and about 45 minutes in my buddy's bell goes off. The drag was too tight and the fish broke it off before he could remove the bell. Round two, loosened the drag a bit and tossed another crawler. Less than 10 minutes later he landed this big girl. She weighted about 14lbs.

Saturday, we didn't get a chance to check out chemehuevi wash. This sign was at the beginning of the dirt road leading to the wash.

No one answered when we called the # so we just returned to camp to fish. We were able to land 2 more fish.
