Big Bear Lake Bass Tournament April 18th Results

Saturday, April 18th, was our first bass tournament of the season, on Big Bear Lake. We have some exciting new add-ons for the tournaments this year. We have gift certificates for the 1st two teams that don’t get a payout from Big Bear Sporting Goods and The Pine Lakefront Dinning. Also The Pines is providing coffee and donuts at registration.
We had some great weather and close fishing Saturday. The 1st three team’s final weights were all with in a pound. But last year’s dominating team, Jim Effron and Steve Almquist, did it again. They took the win with 11lbs 13.8oz. Aaron Armstrong and Don Iovino took 2nd and Matthew and Hannah Keller, 3rd. The smallmouth bass came into play this tournament with every team bring some to the scales. Bob Stephenson won big fish with a nice 2lb 14.6oz smallmouth.

I remember Don Iovino from back in the day. Talked with him about brass and glass technique when I was a kid. Nice guy. Glad to see he's still fishing.

good ol' steve almquist...weird to see him fishing big bear, we fished against each other in the blythe bass club and NBW events. great guy and glad to see him still whackin' em.
