    Default Crappiemike @ vail'

I was able today to fish with
Larry, we met up early and
    Went straight to the launch,
With no wind in site early
It was time to slow troll to
    Find the fish.... Didn't take
Long before the first fish hit
A nice size slab!!! We were
    Fishing anywhere between
Twenty to ten feet of water.
It was steady pick at them
All day with a few doubles
    And one triple!!!! wind came
Up a little later and the drift
Was on.... We ended up with
51 crappie 9 bass and one fat
    Gill for the morning....the fish
    Were preferring the green color
    Today with the blades turning..

    Here's a few picks;

    Late winter crappie'

    Some nice ones mixed in!!!

Most of our fish were females
But we did catch a few males,

    Here's Larry and his gill,,,

I want to thank Larry for the
Ride , with the weather warming
The next few days some of these
    Lakes might pop:

That bluegill bit the tail off my grub. It was my pleasure, MIke. It is nice to see someone enjoy the resource. I probably fish for crappie more than most at Vail and then it is mostly this time of year. My brother visited last week and we had a blast with the crappie. It reminded us of our panfish roots.

Mike was polite enough not to mention that my fish finder decided to take the day off, so we were essentially fishing blind. I was rearranging to make more room under the console and accidentally broke a lead at a bayonet connection. It took five minutes to repair when I got home. Fortunately, I had hit that area hard about twice a week for the last month, so even though it may have cost us a few fish, we still knew approximate depths, contours, and likely feeding areas. All you have to do is get crappiemike in the same zip code as a crappie, and he is going to catch it.
