    Default 10-11-2014 Boils and Trolling

Now that my boat's running again I'm able to host some of the guys who have been so kind to me during the downtime.

Bassfan joined me for some Pyramid Lake boils with a backup of trolling.

The fish cooperated from the get go. They were boiling just outside the swim beach. We got a keeper and some small ones then headed for the main lake.

DMS had already put his crew on a sub-surface slay at our first stop. We didn't hang out. We wanted boiling fish! We tried a few spots after that picking up fish from kinda sparse boils at each spot.

I started out catching a nicer grade of fish than Jim was getting but he wound up getting the 2 best fish, one from a boil in a new spot (for us at least) and another on the troll later on.

We had some big fish around us on Saturday. I just wish that one wasn't near sighted.

Here's Jim with his nice boil fish, approaching 5 lb we think.

The first two times we trolled we didn't pick up any striper. Jim got a small smallmouth though. We went back looking for boils for while. Jim picked up a largemouth from one and a keeper striper from another but the boils were going down pretty fast.

When we returned to the troll the next time I decided to mow. I was getting as close as I could to the weeds hoping to hook up before we harvested grass. It worked. We released lots of 2 pounders as we sorted out the keepers. The drawback was, that we also picked up this UGB.

I tried to get Jim's picture with this UGB that I reeled in because he said it was a nice one. Here, he's revealed his true feelings!

Jim got the two best fish of the day. Way to go Jim!

I can't say that I was disappointed in my catch though. We caught a nice grade of fish.

Here are the ones we kept. I think we caught around 35 striper total.

Thanks for fishing with me Jim. I enjoyed your company.

Ron, Good job telling the tale of our day. You put us on fish over and over especially with the best spot we trolled.

It was fun to just ride along with a good captain, you weren't the least bit rusty except for your camo suit.

Thanks again for inviting me, it was a blast.

Thanks Alex, Boils are fun! I can generally catch more fish baiting down and I'll fish boils anyway.

    WTG Ron and Bfan.

It's nice to hear you got there without
Puncturing your gas tank because of a stupid metal fender
    Rolling around on the fwy.

    Great job guys.
