I got no problems with meat fishers, even with bass. As long as they keep it legal. They usually throw worms or other stuff that never gets bit anyways. And if they need to keep 6" bass from the LA river I pity them. If that does happen, it will make the fish grow bigger... There's too many small fish right now competing for a limited amount of food.

Part of the reason I posted about the river is to see if other fisherman rise to the challenge. So get out there and show me what you catch!

...it's not obvious where I'm fishing, and it's the only spot I've seen that has this many bass. So I think my spot is safe for now.

The legal part is what I'm worried about. I've seen plenty of families who keep undersized fish in buckets to either play with the fish until it dies. Or they actually take the fish home.

Agreed. You take some secretive pics.

I can agree to that. I don't have the pic because it was lost with my old phone from last year but if I am to get it Ill show you. Honestly I don't care much about giving away my spots especially on the LA River . What is there to protect? all the fish there are invasive anyways and there isn't much fishing pressure. Like you said not all the fish bite at once. Most fishermen aren't douchebags to begin with so I don't mind. Secondly unless its some secluded creek, pond, or lake anyone could look at satellite images to see where would be a good place to fish. The only other exception is if the fish was endangered such as the golden trout and greenback cutthroat. I have caught both and released it never told a soul except for people who I trust where I caught them. You can easily catch fish in the LA River. On my last trip there I caught about 11 carp, 5 channel catfish, and 7-8 good size Tilapia. I fished by Balboa Lake upstream from the pond maybe a 1/2-3/4 mile. The bass I caught was near Glendale Narrows there are a lot of deep pools there I don't like it much cause there is no shade . I have seen a guy catch a big *** bass in long beach near Willow St along with some big carp. I am planning on going this weekend will post what I catch.

Sigh. Some guys will never believe it until they see it.

Oh well. I mean it's not like the river is placed the in densest part of Southern California.

Hey caught two over this weekend I fished west of Balboa Blvd. Caught a 3 bullheads, 2 channel catfish, 7 carp biggest one is 16 in, 14 Tilapia biggest one 10 in.
I took up on your challenge I will catch a 15 in bass again I saw one jump right in front of me. Sorry about the pics it was busy and if I focused more on bass I would have caught a few more. I used a panther martin spinner on the bass. For the rest I used corn and shrimp. With Tilapia and carp the bait overlaps with the two species. To tell the difference carp will fight with long runs and tilapia tend to stay in the same spot. If you are planning on catching tilapia make sure to have the rod in your hand and set the hook after the 2 or 3rd strike. They are nibblers.

Yeah I know the original poster didn't believe me so here is the proof. Its a paved dirt trail and there is concrete. It is good fishing if you guys ever get bored of your favorite holes. Go in the morning they bite between 8-1030am.

I've always wanted to go down there and give it a shot, now they're even renting kayaks over here by my house so you do a river tour. Congrats on the catches FYI there is a massive gathering of carp and sunfish by the fletcher street bridge ;).
