The Kids and I drove to see Grandpa in Arizona over the holiday weekend. We enjoyed our turkey festivities on Thursday and decided to do some fishing the next day. I hadn't seen any of the lakes down in the Phoenix area; so we decided to try out Saguaro Lake just 40 miles from downtown Phoenix. We had plenty of "left-overs" from the day before to load up our ice chests. I've never had such gourmet cooking on a fishing trip before!
We arrived at Saguaro Lake around 8 am and headed for the fishing pier. Before I could even think about wetting some lines, I had to take a few moments to view the surroundings. This place was absolutely gorgeous! The towering yellow and red cliff walls butted up against the water's edge. The sun was still low in the sky, casting shadows across the landscape. There was Saguaro Cactus everywhere as if soldiers standing in salute to the morning sun. Bald Eagles soared high over head in search of prey. Big Horned Sheep could be seen high up on the cliffs. This place was truly awesome!
Finally we were able to break the trance that had befallen us due to the majestic scenery and gear up for some fishing!
