Thread: World Cup 2014

  1. #1

    Default World Cup 2014

    Who takes it all?

Obviously, Brasil will be my front runner. Germany and Spain will make a showing. I don't think Argentina will make a run, but does not have the depth as they did in years past to make it past their 4th game. Portugal is in the same boat. Look to Chile to create havock in their group stage.

The two teams I'm rooting for will not get out of group play, so it'll be a short vacation for both the Stars and Stripes who find themselves in The Group of Death and El Trí who just plain suck and should not even be in the Cup.

For those with employment, or that can't be anywhere near a television, and have access to a mobile phone or computer, here's a handy guide to streaming all the games. As you know, ESPN is doing the English telecast, and Univision is doing the telecast that actually shows emotion. Also listed are the local's country telecast as well, although you may need to proxy or VPN into that country in order to watch it. All times are adjusted for EASTERN Daylight Time. Adjust accordingly.

the first game. the referee was really bad blowing the whole game I think if they ref a game that bad and make bad called they should be banned from the world cup.. if you take out the bad ref calling that was a tied game 2-2 but because of the ref some how not opening his eyes it was 3-1.. they need to start doing video replay and suspending players who make dives..

I agree. Although, it's what we all know as "home team officiating." Although, Brasil doesn't make that silly mistake for their auto gol early in the 1st, and it's a different scenario. And flopping is as rampant as it is in the NBA. It's hard to put a stop to that.

Mexico being disallowed 2 goals on questionable offside calls! Will this hurt their chances for 3 points? It seems Cameroon is looking for the 1 point.

Spain v Netherlands is gonna be a battle. I still have Spain on this one.

And Chile v Australia? No surprises who may win that one.

That was a complete annihilation. It was completely unexpected. Van Perse and Robbin are some pretty amazing players, and the Dutch made a huge showing of firepower. England losing against Italy wasn't too surprising, considering England barely qualified. France and Switzerland took care of business.

The Ticos beating Ecuador was also a pretty big upset. So far, CONCACAF is 2-0. Let's hope the US keep the streak going and defeat Ghana, who has made the US their lunch for the past 2 World Cups and eliminated the Stars and Stripes in 2010 and 2006.

Germany v Portugal should be a battle today as well.

Yeah, i think he's a bit of a realist. Although it is an excellent position to take. If you win and continue doing well, it'll be a nice surprise. If you lose, it'll be an "I toldya so," moment.

Hope Dempsey shows why he's in Europe and let's hope Bradley dominates the mid. Here's to Altidore doing more than running around.
