Elsinore and beyond

Sorry for the late report. Did a mini fishing marathon the past few days. Hit Castaic dam on Friday, SLAYED the stripers. Ended up catching 22, the 10 I kept were all the nicer units, 2-3#, with a couple 4-5#. Got around 15 of them on the white soft jerkbait!

Saturday, hit Mission Viejo with my dad and friend, got the SKUNK. Got there too late. It's like a 2 hour drive for me, and we didn't get there until 8:30. Already too warm. Saw some trout swimming around, but couldn't hook any. Threw the Hudd 68 for a while, but no takers, either.

Sunday, hit Elsinore with the parents, hoping to target crappie. Ended up fishing Perret Park, a little deeper than the beaches on the other side, no crappie, got a few carp. Water is super green and murky. Is it always that way around the whole lake? A little marshy there, and it smelled like it. Couldn't find the Marina, ended up seeing it coming back around the lake on the way home. have to check it out next time to see if it's cleaner.

Monday, tried Castaic, bought and prepared bait, lunch, ice, did the 45 min drive up there to find the main ramp/dam were closed. Didn't feel like praying for a fish or two at the West Ramp, so left and drove down and hung out with Mr. Hong at Cosmos for a while. used to spend hours in there, multiple times a week while I was in law school (before I dropped out, LOL). Can't believe that was almost 20 years ago!!!

Should have tried harder. I fished a white minijig 2-4 feet under a float around a fence and a point, but only for a few minutes.

I am in Defcon 2 mode right now on the Elisnore Crappie. Hopefully, I'll be able to post a good report on the Marina Crappie in a week or two.

Defcon 2 meaning attack mode? My bro is headed out there tomorrow, so if there are a few biting at the Marina, might ask him to check it out.

thanks for the report, I've been running around too but alkyl I meet is the skunk, sticking with the crappie,I thought elsinore would come alive after the rain.castaic lagoon doesn't have the reeds they used to spawn in,I might try to get there tonight ilk report later

Spawning happens quick, gotta stay on the bite. Some evenings can go off while only a handful of fish are caught in the day time.

Bring a bucket.

Is not fishing at it's best.......
