Default Spring Lunker Fest & Rib Cook-off - Presented by: Team 57

Team 57 would like to invite you to the 1st Annual Spring Lunker Fest & Rib Cook-off on April 5th 2014 at the beautiful Irvine Lake! Showcasing the best BBQ cooks in all of Southern California competing for the title of "Rib Cook-off Champion". Add to that a free trout derby with kids and adult prizes, a BBQ themed potluck to accompany the rib cook-off, and a HUGE raffle!

This is an official Team 57 event. This event is free and open to everyone (lake admission still required). It is a great way to meet some new people and hang out with other anglers, so come out and enjoy a day on the water with Team 57 for some family, friends, fun, & fishing!

This years Spring Lunker Fest trout derby is open to everyone. There is no buy-in and anyone can weigh-in a fish. We'll be giving away prizes for kids biggest fish 1st place, 2nd place, & 3rd place (12 years old & younger) and adult biggest fish 1st place, 2nd place, & 3rd place. Each contestant will be allowed to weigh-in their single largest trout. Final weigh-in time is 2pm SHARP! There will be an optional $10 sidepot for those who'd like to buy-in.

The Rib Cook-off is also free and open for anyone to compete! If you wish to compete send an email to TaperSteve@hotmail.com to sign-up and we will add your name to the contestants list. Late entries will be excepted the day of the event but please try and sign-up as soon as possible. We'll be giving away a one of a kind award for the Rib Cook-off Champion and Runner-up TBA soon. Each contestant will be required to cook enough ribs to feed at least 15+ people a single rib each. Each contestant is allowed to turn in as many entries as they choose. All entries must be turned in by 2:15pm SHARP! Every entry will be givin' a required container and assigned a random number for turning in the ribs. Wristband/tickets will be available for the low price of only $5 for those who want to eat ribs and a chance at being one of the judges. Three tickets will be drawn at random to see who will join the judging panel. Ribs will be judged based on the following criteria.

    Appearance of Entry
    -
Not to be confused with presentation. Appearance is the way the rib itself looks. Does your rib look like a lump of charcoal that got just a tad over-cooked? That’ll get you a low score for Appearance. Does your rib look like a glimmering piece of heaven? That’ll get you a high score for Appearance.

Tenderness of Entry - This one’s self explanatory. How tender is your rib? If your rib’s as tuff as leather you’ll get a low score for Tenderness. If your rib’s “falling off the bone” tender then you’ll get a high score for Tenderness.

Taste of Entry - This is what it all comes down to…. How good does your rib taste?

If you don't plan on bringing ribs for the cook-off please bring a BBQ themed potluck item to share (baked beans, salad, watermelon, cornbread, soda/water, etc...). Check the RSVP thread on FishingNetwork.net and bring what you see fit. If you don't see an item on the list feel free to sign up for that item.

We wll be holding a free raffle thanks to our many great sponsors! Stay tuned to the RSVP thread on FishingNetwork.net in the coming weeks as we announce more and more sponsors! If you would like to sponsor this event or donate an item(s) to the raffle send an email to TaperSteve@hotmail.com

This event will take place at the picnic area immediately adjacent to the tackle shop.

Here's a list of the event schedule and times.
