    Default Big Bear lake conditions?

Hey fnn fam, I'm headed up to big bear lake this weekend for my bday , i'll be hanging out with my family and planned to do some fishing in the mornings before they start their activities..
i was wondering if any one had some recent lake conditions or fish reports… no one has posted on bbl thread for over a month or so.. just wondering if the lake has frozen over ? because last year
when i went it was all ice at the surface, and only open water was a small hole by the dam and another opening at the beginning of the lake where the water exits out..
anybody know the current Air and Water temp conditions?

i will be shore fishing this weekend and hope to put the lil cousins on some fish… i usually do well with a slip shot, 1ft leader power balls and scent.. maybe ill drop shot some trout worms or throw some thomas buoyant spoons.

any tips or suggestions on where i can get some good shore fishing action?

my game plan was fish boulder bay , then the damn… i also noticed ppl fishing from the observatory? am i allowed to park there and walk out to the end of the observatory jedi? anyone know any turn outs on the road where i can safely park,
and fish for a couple hours?

thanks guys anything would help.. this is my only real vacation in the year , a time where all the grand kids get to hang out…. and hoping to make this 30th bday rememberable..

you can PM me also if ya had any tips..

lmi if u suggest in leave the swim bait rod at home , if chucking the savage gear line thru and deps 250 / n hudds would be a waste of time up there… n just focus on the good trout bite…

thanks again , tight lines, peace n cheers..

The lake is not frozen at all your good to go. I was there on the 5th and did a just a 2 hr. afternoon session right before sundown ,by the Carol Morrison boat launch. I just got one little stocker on a lure, but a kid next to me got a nice 2 to 3 pounder on PB. Happy birthday and have a good time, you are welcome to pm me.

Nice fish!!!!!!! I'm sorry you felt people were a little tight lipped about Big Bear. If you ever fish one of my favorite lakes, I'll give you exact GPS cordinates of my favorite spots. lol

Problem I think he isn't recognizing is very few of us are fishing BBL mid winter and he asked for current conditions. But having said that this winter it is tempting to fish the lake, no ice, not as frigid as normal, no snow etc...

Beautiful catches man. You sure had some good luck cause i had gone there early january and had absolutely no luck we literally sat there since about 9 in the morning until about 5 or 6 and we didnt eve get a nibble thats happened twice in a row already. but im glad you were able to catch some good catches. In my opinion that is a great way to spend your birthday.
