    Default DoubleHaul Weekend w/pics

After a whirlwind tour of the Sierras and then directly off to the east coast, I finally have a chance to sit down and post some pics. I'll keep it short.
My wife and I were up in Mammoth for the Western Outdoor News DoubleHaul in the Fall event which we, Okuma, were sponsoring. We were invited up to be in a judge boat on Lake Crawley for the Tournament on Saturday. Leading up to tournament day we had a couple little windows of opportunity to hit the Lower Owens river for some incredible fly action. My wifes first time fly fishing. She was a little bored, but when the bite turned on, she was hooked. Here is a shot of me along the Owens.

Here is a shot of one of the monsters I caught ont he first morning.

And here is a quick shot of my wife with a monster she pulled out of the river.

Tournament day came and we were out on the water bright and early. It was a little slow in the morning, so we had a chance to troll around a bit. Here is a little Rainbow that I pulled up.

We also had a chance to get out and explore a bit. We went on a mission to find as many of the hot springs as we could. We found a few, but Hot Creek is still one of our favorite spots.

All in all, it was a nice weekend.

Nice pics. What pattern worked best, if you don't mind me asking?

    Thanks,

I like the picture of Hot Creek. I'm going to have to visit that place.

    Thanks for the post.

In the river, streamers seemed to work best. For a while, it was every cast. Olive with Red bottom and a gold bead head. Actually pretty much any olive color worked.

Hot creek was pretty amazing! They closed it down to swimming a few years ago, do to increased seizmic activity. Fish were being instantly boiled, and so were some swimmers. How soon till the whole mountain blows? They have been saying 10 years since I was a kid.
