MDR Fish n' Bugfest 11/30 w-pics
Did an afternoon/evening "fish & hoop" trip with David (baja-concept) aboard my 15ft aluminum Duroboat "Red Drum". Fortunately the winds were light, the ocean conditions were nice and the fish were biting.
We first went after some tasty Vermilions before we set the nets...yumyum!
Sunset pic
After setting the hoop nets, we went Bass fishing for a little over an hour and caught either a Calico or Sand Bass on almost every cast...that was a ton of fun.
David and a Sand Bass.
Calico and Sandie.
David and a nice Calico Bass.
Vinnie and another Sand Bass.
Only caught 6 keeper Lobsters and 8 shorts, which wasn't too bad since we had 3 relentless Seal's screw with our nets all night long.
Here is David with the big Bug of the night and one of the many Rock Crabs that we caught.
Pot o' Crabs...yummy!
Had a great time and can't wait to do it again.
Till next tide,
Vince

Dave was telling about your trip yesterday... well done.
That pot-o-crab looks delicious. Dave gave me a bunch of those Stone Crabs last week and they were great.
One of these days, I'll make it out there with your guys.

nice trip guys,
how is that "small" boat out there,
I have a 20ft pontoon, that I have tempted to take it out from there, but dont know where to go either...
I know both are not ideal as an "ocean" boat, but the bays are different.
Pulling pots is much easier from a flat surface.
