I share this hoping that not only might any fly fishermen out there be interested but also those who are simply curious or wish to learn.

There is going to be a massive fly fishing gathering in Mammoth Lakes hosted by the The Southwest Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers.
This event takes place Friday, September 20th through Sunday the 22nd in Mammoth Lakes California. The breadth of events surrounding this 3 day event is impressive. There are fly fishing and fly tying seminars (even one for saltwater), photography tips, on-the-water conservation events and even a movie night. When you top it off with women only classes and a program for the Boy Scout Fly Fishing merit badge, it is hard not to be impressed. The caliber of those conducting each event is nothing short of top notch either. Whew - ok so that's the hype.

Everything is reasonably priced and in some cases free. For the record, I am not a Fly Fishing purist! This is just a great event in a great place and one of the goals of the SWC is to not alienate the greater angling community.

Bundle this in with other activities and you have a great weekend in the Eastern Sierra.
