Default Sierra Cutthroat Fishing - Video Report/pics

We were up in the Sierras last week and on the way home stopped for a short day hike. I brought the fishing rod along and turned out to be a great decision. The Cutthroat were attacking my fly and float setup most of the day and caught a bunch of very colorful trout. Just waded out to the drop of and cast a bead head prince nymph to the edge. Seemed like a slow retrieve would trigger bites. I was getting tons of bites and it was pretty neat as the fish would chase the fly right up to me. One fish even ate my float and when I set the hook the float slid down the line and the fish got hooked in the mouth. This was caught on the video. Anyways for some of the action check out the pics and video below.

I enjoyed watching the fishing and I love the day pack. I never saw on of those before.

My wife got the Pack at REI - it's the Osprey Poco Premium Child Carrier, supposedly they told her it was the best. I didn't realize how much it costs till I just looked it up, kinda expensive.

The water really didn't feel that cold to me, I was standing out there for a few hours. It was the wind that was getting to me. I think I'm part fish though and growing up in Edmonton Alberta sure makes you cold tolerant. Getting out there really helped because I was quite a ways from shore and my casts with this light set up wouldn't even have come close.

Where is "there?" If you don't mind me asking. I probably can't hike up there. Just curious. Sure is a pretty mountain in the background ... still has snow!

    "McClure Lake" is my guess!
I don't think it matters if anyone knows what lake this is, as it is not that easy for most anglers to catch fish here.
    Good luck!

It might matter if somebody used bait and kept a few, because that lake has special regulations which are, "only artificial lures with barbless hooks, bag limit 0"!
