    Default Catalina 6/10

My girlfriend and I left Sunday night on the hunt for seabass. We stopped by Nachos for a nice 1/2 scoop of squid and motored to the backside of Cat, arriving just after 10. I found a good mark of squid so I stopped and put out the light. They came up nicely and we preceded to net another 1/2 scoop to top the tanks off. Set the alarm for 5 am and woke to find my squid / iron combo was missing with frayed #40 at the end. Something must have got it and wrapped me on the anchor? I didn't hear a thing. We hooked 4 or 5 batrays and a couple calicos then I decided to make a move to where I caught the seabass last week. We didn't get far and I noticed some bird activity so I stopped, threw in a squid and bit instantly! Turned out to be a log barracuda. I threw another bait and repeat instant bite but this one was a drag peeler. 1/2 hour later I get this slug yellow up.

We set back out and instantly bit again, but this time seabass.

Next was Tarra's turn. - yeah, she's fishing in her pj's.

We limited out by 8am and left them biting. The bass were 25-30 pounds and the yellow was about 35. I went around to the front side were some schoolie yellowtail were supposedly biting. We saw the Fury, Toronado and Monte Carlo fishing a small stretch of the island so we found a nice spot, had good current, and proceeded to catch many calico bass and a few more barracuda but no sign of yellowtail. Left around noon and had glass conditions all the way back.
