If you were to buy a new 50hp outboard how would you rank your favorite top three manufacturers?

I looked at a Honda today, on the pricy side  but it's a Honda!

    Default Yamaha

Hey - my boat has a Yamaha 115 outboard and I really love this motor... I have about 80 hours on it, fresh and saltwater... no probs whatsoever. I'm sure that the top manufacturers all make good motors. You might try getting more info by googleing...

Couldnt go wrong with a Merc,Honda, or Yamaha. Freshwater think I would go with a Merc.
Heard a few years back, The big honda motors had some problems.
Heard the Yamaha parts can be a bit pricey.

I've had my HondaBF20 4stroke for a couple of years now and have had no problems and if you go to high elevations, the mix adjustment is very simple. (1 screw on the carb) Yes they are kind of pricey, but I think they're well worth it

    End :thumb:
